Did my 9v Accidently Recharge?

Hey guys.  This is regarding a BluesBreaker I built.

A few months ago I had left my BluesBreaker on all night and drained the battery by accident.  However, I use an adaptor for it now and havent replaced the battery.  A few days ago I was playing through the BluesBreaker with an adaptor, and it just cut off.  It wasnt the same adaptor I normally use, but it had worked before.  So I checked around and couldnt figure it out.  Then I unplugged the adaptor and the LED came on without an outside power source other than the "drained battery".

Did this battery somehow recharge itself?  What happened?  Very strange...

  It got hot, jostled or...
  Just regrew voltage...
  They do that sometimes.
  I had batteries go out the what was it...first month of use, that was 2 years ago, I rubbed 'em between my hands [AAA batteries], stuck them back in the remote, they lasted like three months [I'm getting sketchy but after 3 rubbings, each one getting longer service form the battery than the last] it's been two years instead of a month...so yes, there may be a much greater amount of Supply in your battery than it's first 'round' or life.
  That was ina remote control for TV.
  Try giving your batteries 2nd, 3rd, 4rth and 5th lifes this way, the latter lifes may last a whole lot longer than the very short first one.
  Yea...could be something else but it isnt'..batteries 'grow' man.

Would it be a viable thing to have a circuit that could recharge your battery in pedal?  If the pedal could tolerate the use of a re-chargable battery, and a trickle circuit was installed, you could use a wall wart and recharge it while practicing at home.  Maybe it is just easier to put a new battery in.  :icon_smile:

Isn't that kind of how cordless phones and the like operate? They can be used while in the charging cradle, but as soon as you pick them up, you're on battery power. I'm sure someone on the web has figured out how to canibalize the charging circuit. But like you say, maybe you'd run into a problem of Diminishing Returns, since it's pretty easy to just recharge 9v batteries, and space seems to be at a premium on pedal boards.  :icon_lol:

I want to know how to make a whole pedal full of power like the supercap battery.... Then again, the potential to discharge all of that at once, ouch!

In my past Mobile Electronics career would regularly use 1 Farad caps like these:

though 1 farad * 9 volts = only 2.5 milliampere hours

  I repeatedly kick started my cars battery, I think it knocked just enough bubbles off the plates or let some of the crud settle better..did the trick many times.
