I built Dragonflys PCB of the Ibanez Fat Cat... and it sounds nice-
I subbed the IC for a 741 and R10 (56R) has been replaced with a 47R... I didnt have any 56Rs on hand.

Over all I like it. I don't remember it being this mean... its pretty cool. When I was 16 I walked into a small local music store and this was the ONLY distortion they had on the shelf... this was in '87 or so... I think this one will find its way onto my board.

The only gripe I've got is that the distortion is all bunched up at the beginning of the rotation... did I maybe wire it up in correctly?

THANKS DRAGONFLY!!!

Very cool..glad to know it worked as it was supposed to.

How is the "tone" knob ? Ive always kinda dug those "Rat style" filters.

Just a guess, but since the 5534 is more of a "hi-fi" op amp, i'd assume the 741 would contribute to its being "meaner"  :icon_twisted:

As far as the distortion being "bunched up", i suspect a "reverse log" pot would fix that.

THe tone knob is odd... it sorta sounds like its a high cut/boost. When you crank it, it boosts the signal some.
Yeah I'll have to see if I can dig up a reverse pot... does Mouser sell those? I know Smallbear does- but if I order from Mouser in the next 45 minutes I'll have it here tomorrow at no extra charge!

Any "continuing thoughts" on the Fat Cat ?

sound clips ?

just wondering...

Not anytime soon... in a week or 2 I'll get the time to set up.

I was playing it again last night... and I really like it. I like that it can get pretty heavy sounding- so I get a good all around tone from it.
