I'm leaning towards making a talkbox after hearing the effect and i have all the parts for a simple one from parts express listed out but the thing is you have to use a mic and all for it to work

on the other end, Danelectro makes the Free Speech talkbox with in line mic and all that...really simple, compact setup.
its quite a bit of money but i may go with the off the shelf unit mostly because of the built in mic.

anyways, I've been looking around the search and see some have made a talkbox like i was planning.

I would be interested in pics of homemade units as well as some details on how it went together

   Interesting.
   HAven't heard one yet..
Here's what I found helped my talkboxes:
A sound going into the amp and HF driver they 'like'.
"Better' quality amp and HF Driver, ok hose too...lol.
*Big PA/Nice Mic which gets loud at low and high frequencies 'easily'...I don't know how 'simple, compact setup' could really pull it off...'don't know' means exactly that, I haven't checked out the FS or other talkboxes.

Convention creates following, following creates convention.

turns out more reading on the shows the mics of the danelectro TB are not all that great..same for the controls on it

i found that the Rocktron Banshee Talk Box is set up like the DE but is much better overall so i am going to buy that one instead
