I built a Ruby and I am getting no sound from the speaker except when I plug into the input jack I get a popping sound.  I think the voltages are correct:

LM386:

1  1.35
2-4 0
5  3.68
6  9.14
7  4.61
8  1.34

MPF102

G  0
S  1.51
D  9.09

I am using a 1w 4 ohm speaker with the positive of speaker connected to negative of 220uf cap and the negative of the speaker to ground.  Tip of jack to G of MPF102, Ring to negative of battery and sleeve to ground.

Your guitar is turned up? Sounds like a possible lack of input...
  I forget the 386 pinout
1  1.35 [I forget
2-4 0 [''   ''
5  3.68 [''  ''
6  9.14   [output IIRC, looks like the highest voltage here [V+?
7  4.61  [isn't this the Vin/V+ pin ? should be the highest voltage if...
8  1.34  [IIRC pins 1 and 8 are N/C,
   Pin 4 is ground?
and don't have the schematic memorized.

Actually I swapped cords out and guitars to no avail.

Still have no sound, the only thing I did differently was combine two resistors in series for 1.6M instead of 1.5M.  Could that cause a drop in input?
