I need to figure out what different components do, I mean I need a little tutorial or something explaining what certain components do when you are talking about effects pedals. Because, I get a schematic of a pedal and I connect the parts together as shown, but I have no comprehension of what each component does, I am going through my electronics book, reading what different components do, but I don't know any theory or sense of what they do with effects pedals. If anyone can tell me what each common component does in guitar effects or a link to a site that explains it, I would appreciate it. Thanks

I assume you don't mean "what is resistance?" or "what is voltage?".  If you mean "what is the function of each component in a generic circuit?" then try this thread:

a fellow asked me why my wahs were superior to all others.

"1. the prices. $200-300 is NOT player priced...any real musician cant afford that kind of a wah. so, ill build a better wah, with better components..at better prices...
2. anyone can modify a wah pedal. you can do it, your little sister can do it...anyone can do it. BUT to have an understanding of the wah pedal, the understanding of every components function and the theory involved, rather than the typical 'ive heard SRV had a special halo inductor made by hendrix himself..so a halo will make a wah sound amazing.' knowledge is power."

i believe that the knowledge of a specific pedals components function is incredibly useful...

ive been meaning to post that for a while...
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...
