It may have potential

I've got this old combo amp, it was just a cheapie and now has a blown speaker. So its sitting around doing nothing at the moment, but opening it up and peering inside i was thinking that I could rip all the guts out of it and use the transformer and the shell of the amp for a all tube bass amp. Aside from electrical hazard, can i use the transformer that it has on it now?

No. That is not an output transformer, it's a power transformer, and chances are pretty slim that it puts out the kind of voltage you need for a tube amp.

If the amp still works, why not build a nifty enclosure for it and make a SS head out of it?  Should be ok for a beater...

ah ok, that make sense. Shouldve realised that, the amp it self was nothing fancy so i wont worry about that. Thanks for the info anyway

these type chassis are not very sturdy for tube amps to begin with.  Then you'd have to deal with the numerous holes you won't need.

and lastly that xmer won't work for anything in a tube amp.
