help with tube screamer parts list?

Hi,

I have been trawling the layouts gallery for a good hour or so, and I cant find a tube screamer vero layout... I know I've seen one... I think it might have been in Torchy's gallery, but that album seems to have been emptied since yesterday? :S

Apparently its an ROG project, based around the tube screamer...

I have some questions, how would this compare to the tube screamer layout?

C2 & C5 are different colours to the rest of the caps? Why? Are they tant's or electro's? Also, what diode is D3 on the list it is 1N40xx but doesnt specify the last two digits. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I don't think the colours for these 2 caps are significant. The reason that the diode code is incomplete is that pretty much any diode starting with 1N400.. will do..e.g. 1N4001. If I were you, I would do some searches for other Tubescreamer PCB layouts, schematics and their descriptions (e.g. at tonepad and general guitar gadgets) and see what they use. The TS circuit is pretty simple so you should be able to see the differences in component values etc.
