called faceless fuzz, using some ideas about using hybrid si/ge darlingtons from petemoore.  thanks pete!
any low gain pnp ge transistors would probably work fine.  same goes with the 2n3906's...  when the banana jacks get plugged in, there is some hf oscillation that occurs.  try as i might, i couldn't reduce the noise without a cap to filter the highs and i wasn't interested in doing that (the connection turns the fuzz into a noisemaker anyways...).  the banana jacks seemed like the simplest solution!  anyways, the banana jack connection is creating some sort of feedback (i think) that is used kind of like an uglyface, with the rotary switch changing cap sizes (frequencies).  all different noisemaker type sounds and standalone synth type action with this mod...fun!  i'll post some soundclips afer i make them.

hit the little flower button on your digital camera and you'll get clear pictures.. VERY cool idea with the poloroid... try a non-acidic clear for the first couple coats, that might preserve the pic. If you are in the USA, Evil Wal-Mart has it in the arts/crafts area.
Breadboards are as invaluable as underwear - and also need changed... -R.G.

thanks for the tip, $uperpuma.  that's a great idea for preserving the polaroid, although i need to work out some drilling ideas mostly...drilling through the polaroid is interesting  ;)  the plastic sort of splinters giving *less than perfect* results.  this one does look pretty amazing in the flesh though...it's pretty subtle - a picture of the sky with some branches coming in at random spots.  hard to see in the photos.

  Wow..
You went nuts with the feedback loop filter cap switching !
putting a straight wire across, or possibly reducing the 100k to 47k using same switch...I'm sure you could suffice with 6 of the octa-switch mod sounds being filtered with caps, the other two available selections being 'stock and 1/2 stock [a 47k R there makes it cleanup @ guitar volume really nicely, Thanks Gus Smalley for turning me onto that mod].
I guess the .047uf and .01uf [above Q1's collector] would roll down HF response pretty dramatically. See Axis Face, which puts .047uf across a 1k [in your 470ohm resistor's position]..ie you could try some light HF Filtering by lifting the on/off/on from Q1C and placing it across the 470ohm.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

in my schematic the 100k is already changed to a 47k...i couldn't quite get the bias right with it at 100k, i have no idea why this helped!?  would 100k give me a more intense fuzz?  it sounds great as it is now...  the on/off/on LPF switch i added does indeed roll off the HF response quite a bit, but it's something that is very useful to me.  it can almost get a sound like a big muff with the tone rolled all the way off...
