I'm going to be drilling holes for potentiometers. The type I have are the alpha ones with a single metal protrusion on the edge to prevent the potentiometer from turning. What's the best way to drill for and mount the pots, accounting for this? My knobs aren't big enough to cover that up. Do I cut off the protrusion? Get bigger knobs?

If you don't want the locating tab you can break it off.

Either drill for the tab, or a lock washer is just as good, otherwise they tend to come undone sometimes
