i have been fooling with the dark t-shirt transfer stuff.

i always end up with the over cooked crackled effect, which can be cool, but...

how long do you guys "cook" it for?

i want to make sure it is bonded well, but i don't want the crackle.

suggestions?

oh- i have been using it on the hammond type enclosures.

I usually iron for about 1 minute on the cotton setting. Keep the iron moving and pay attention to the edges.

The stupidest mistake I made once was trying to iron on the transfer without removing the backing paper  :icon_redface:.

I have also sometimes ended up with the crackle look:

i left the paper on the first time as well.  smart.

i have heard some say to keep it moving and some say not to.

really, i guess i should be asking "how can you tell when it has been cooked enough"?

Doesn't the bucking indicate some impurities under the transfer?

As in box not clean enough? As in residue from some cleaning step?

I finally figured out that even no-residue cleaners (toluene, etc) left a slight residue.

Try very fine sandpaper for last cleaning step perhaps? Worked for me.

Sometimes it seems like it's just repeat until you get lucky...

Y'know the tweed looks more like the real thing in the pic <grin>
