Hello,
I have the above mentioned pedal. I have removed the existing transistors and have a set of get875s for replacement. Looking at the board from the components side, where do the legs with the red dots go? My view is with the pedal flat and the stomp switch towards me. Which side is high and which low also? I have plugged these transistors into my byoc after reversing the polarity and they sound great. Thanks in advance. I guess I am still a beginner. My pedal repairs and mods are still in the single digits.

Since I am asking for something I will try to add something back however small. I experimented with some transistors in my byoc this morning. I piggybacked 2 nkt 275s on top of each other so that there are 3 trans. in a fuzz face circuit. It kinda looks like one transistor humping another with each leg attached to the same leg of the one that plugs into the socket. It sounded good in one spot and real weak in the other. I didn't have time to change the bias but just that it worked I thought was cool. I tried it without the tranny stack and I think it was a little thinner sounding, I'm not sure. I'm sure it's been done but it's what I have to add, however kooky .
Thanks,
Max

I got it, emitter to the bottom on the left and top on the right. This thing sounds great, thanks to Pro analog for the idea.

while you're at it, put sockets there and try a 2n3906 in place of Q1. you might like it!

How did you get the epoxy off? My friend fried one of his Fulltone boxes and I didn't know how to get that gunk off.

i've seen the inside of quite a few 69s, none had goop.
the wiring is always very neat and tidy, good job on those assemblers. they each sign them.

Mine had the hot glue treatment. I just pried it up a bit on the edge of the glue and then grabbed it with some needle nose pliers and twisted it over the end of the pliers. It took about 20 minutes to unglue.

The epoxy.... good luck, but on the '69 and '70, as well as the distro-pro they did not use epoxy but just some black paint to cover the transistor/ICs. I removed that with some alcohol and q-tips.

Hey Joe Gagan, I took your advice and put some sockets in my Fulltone. I plugged in a NKT 255 and a NKT 254 and it is the smokinest fuzz I've ever heard. I'm very much using trial and error right now. I hope to learn how to test transistors so I can hit the mark more often. There are so mant transistors I want to plug in and listen too! Thanks for the advice!!
