Rectifier diode question

We seem to all be building power supplies this weekend   ;)

My question is - can you mix & match different Vf's when making a bridge?  I have 4 heavy-duty Si rectifier diodes.  SR340 and PR3005.  One type has a Vf of .16, and the other .3
My only other recourse is to try Radio Shack (which doesn't seem to carry anything rated higher than 100v), or wait for an order.
I'm rectifying 220V and these babies look like they can handle it, but might not be 'balanced' for good rectification.   Maybe I could just do a full wave instead of a bridge...

-----Edit---------
The SR340 seems to be a lower-voltage device so I won't be able to use it...I'm still curious about mixing diodes in rectification, though!   It would probably lead to assymetrical rectification, ha ha

Yeah - assym rec !!
I was led to believe that you need the same type/spec, that's why it's often 4 x 1N4007's or 2 x etc
Easier to calculate the result from 4x the same also I guess ....

That only makes sense...might as well keep it simple! I ran out and got 4x 1N5404, which should do the job nicely.  My headache is always the unavailability of parts, living in small-town Maine...

If you keep diodes marked A and B respective the same sort, the resulting altering DC will
be symmetric (right?)  :o. Otherwise I think you will get more 50/60 Hz ripple compared to higher
frequencies than you use to. But really, at these voltages it doesn't matter.

GibsonGM

Thanks, oskar.  I think you'd still be asymmetrical, but not by very much. And probably not enough to make any difference, given the output would be heavily filtered.

I got my 200V power supply using the bridge I made from 4x 1N5404...forgot that I need a reasonable load, and blew my fuses, lol.   This high voltage stuff is really inconvenient, and underscores how nice moving to solid state must have been!
