Fet based OD, gain and resistors values

Ok, i've already read this:

it's clear now for me how the resistor on the source of the fet affects gain on the first stage of a fet based OD.
But what about the second or other stages? Considering a ROG fetzer valve whit a second stage added: raising the value of the res in the second stage do i will obtain less gain? Does the gain depend only by the fisrt stage and the second works like a buffer? Apologies for my bad english.
