How would you go about onboard FX?

Yeah, like onboard a guitar.

Where should I place the PCB's in a strat?

Hanglow

under the pickguard, wherever you can find a space. you could also route it out a wee bit if there isn't enough space.

Are you putting a booster in I take it?

lol, I think I need to clarify, I meant, where in the guitar's circuit should I place the effect? Right now, I've finished up on a Green Ringer circuit and I decide I don't want to drill an entire enclosure for someting so small, so I figured just putting it in my guitar.I'm also considering taking the circuits out of those Dano Fab pedals (with their notoriously tiny little Circuit Boards). If I don't happen to have enough room, what other effect do you recommend I pair the Ringer up to? I'm thinking something that sounds good with a green ringer at the same time....

i guess a fuzz, of some sort...

youd have to have a pretty darn big cavity to fit them fx...dont forget about batteries.

i think paul does it with a wah, right?

no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

IMHO the guitar is not a good place for anything except a buffer/cable driver.

There is a dearth of places on a guitar where you can put
(a) the circuits themselves
(b) batteries to power them
(c) any controls of any kind

A buffer is a highly useful thing that can be made so small that (a) doesn't count, use so little power that (b) doesn't count, and has no controls (c).

Otherwise you're back to something like the old Vox guitars with on-board effects and zillions of switches and knobs.

One thing - as clumsy as a pedalboard is, it works well while you're singing, dancing, and trying to make soul contact with the cute chick in the second row. 8-)

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

^ of course, the most important aspect of all is the chick in the second row.

I wouldn't recommend putting that in your guitar. I mean, how would you get a fuzz behind it?

If you want to put a circuit in your guitar, it should definitely be a fuzz, booster, or some kind of EQ circuit.
