TW-1 for bass?

Hey all!

I just got this TW-1 in from a friend who is a bass player; he liked it for quite a while as he plays with a Rick-o-sound (so bass and slight treble can be run through other pedals) but lately he finds the sweep is not deep enough

I know that in Envelope Filters a doubling of the filter caps can help this; I found this schematic on GodiksenNet.com; which caps are in need of a change??

The structure is very much like a conventional inductor-based wah (even has an inductor).  In which case I am going to say that the cap to change will be the one sitting in the analogous position on your average Cry Baby.  In this instance, I'm thinking that would be C10 (.0022uf).  For now, tack a second .0022uf cap in parallel on the copper side of the board and see if it makes the anticipated diference.

Thanks man!

I tried the suggested value but it did not differ in bassyness

I tried a 10 nF cap and this did the trick. Now the sweep is quite nice!!

Thanks for that followup. :icon_biggrin:  I'm sure the info will be useful for others facing the same sort of wah adaptation for bass.

Maybe the value can be a bit bigger; I am just waiting for what the guy thinks of it!
