PCB program ?: Advice on how to convert Gerber 274 to 274X?

I'm using the antiquated Protel 98 to design effects PCBs, but it only outputs Gerber 274, not Gerber 274X, which is what most PCB houses want, especially the ones with the deals.  Anyone do this successfully?  Or should I get with it and learn an entirely new program? :icon_cry:

One thing I'd like to use the program for is to make a bunch of different generic building block boards that would otherwise get tedious doing with perf, like generic blend/pan circuits, maybe a sweepable mids board, little daughter boards for 3pdt switches with all the wiring on it (like EH does), envelope followers, LFOs, buffers, etc.

Thanks a lot for any help, I've tried a bunch of things/searching but so far, no satisfaction.

I've never seen a converter. That doesn't mean they don't exist, but I did do a search at one time. Maybe one exists now.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
