hey guys

in between scratching my head on the voodoo vibe vero im attempting and living - i have decided to make a tone bender pro MkII on vero so i can get get a quick fix of diy success.

im going to make it on vero so everyone can make one.

now - im not a cap expert - and i know that some people here believe that different types of caps make no difference - but i found there was a diffrence when building my vox 846 wah - so i'm going to ask your help in identifying the type of caps in the following picture which is from the D*A*M website

there are three yellow ones and three blue ones

can anyone help me out here? will post my vero when its complete.

also, im using the schem from tonepad >> http://www.tonepad.com/project.asp?id=41  can anyone confirm that this schem is actually the real authentic schem used by sola and built in the uk in the 60's?

cheers

The three blue ones are electrolytics with axial eads, most likely C1=4.7uF, C3=4.7uF, and C5=47uF on the Tonepad layout. The yellow ones look like polypropylene or polyester films. Mallory 150s or 935s should work.

Hey Ulysses,

Here's a vero layout for a Tonebender MKII Pro that I made.  I've built a few from this layout so it's verified.  I figured it might be useful for you to have to compare when making yours.  Keep in mind that my version is PNP Negative ground so that you can use an adapter with it.

Also, here's a link to a thread that I posted last year when I first made mine:

I would normally link to my version of my layout in the gallery but since the site is down I'll just post it here:

Hope you dig it,

here's mine (made from leftover parts):

It's pos gnd and the .01uF input treble cap is switchable.

Last night i replaced Q3 (2SA100) with an AC128 because it went leaky and impossible to bias.

I recorded some clips, so check them out if you want.

That's how it looks like:

Ulysses,

The blue caps are BC caps.  The yellow ones probably Mallory.  If you try to find Mullard type caps, you may also try the SoZo caps (which are Mullard clones).  I used those caps in my Marshall clone as well and like them very much.

Cheers,
Serge

The blue ones are Philips axial electros, and the yellow ones are Ero polyester caps.
