Differences between 1N4001 and 002?

I heard somewhere it's only their voltage tolerance. Would this translate by a difference in sound used as clipping diodes?
I modded my route66 today with N4002 (I'd normally use 001s) and a violet LED. There used to be 4148 + 4148/LED in series before and now the sound is less loud (better for me, not as much level difference), smoother and slightly better... though a little less open (that should be bettered by a TL072 instead of a 4558D soon enough).

I believe the difference between clipping diodes is their forward voltage, which is iirc identical in the whole 1n400x group.

All 1N400X are 1A silicon rectifiers. They differ only in Peak Inverse Voltage (PIV).

1N4001 - 50V
1N4002 - 100V
1N4003 - 200V
1N4004 - 400V
1N4005 - 600V
1N4006 - 800V
1N4007 - 1000V

As clippers, they wouldn't. That's what I was saying in my previous post, what you need to know when comparing diode clippers is the forward voltage (maybe an oversimplification, but accurate in this case), and with 1n4001-4007, it is the same.
