Hi.

I'm about to order some parts for the YJM308, and it says on the schematic that it's supposed to be 500K and 100K pots. Now would that be lin. or log. (A or B)?

Thanks.

I'd guess the 100k is for the volume control, that'd be typically audio/log taper, should work good.
500k audio taper with lugs 1 and 3 reversed = CCW being max gain, and wide gain control/'ok' control over higher gain settings.
For better control over the medium to higher gain settings [with loss of lower gain settings] try a 100k or pot instead.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

The output level pot should be a 100KA. For the gain pot you can use, ideally, a reverse audio taper pot. A linear taper will work less well and most of the action will be bunched up at one end of the pot's travel. Using an audio taper pot that's wired up backward works very well.
