Unusually simple footswitch,,, why does it POP?!

Hey all, built my own 2 function footswitch with LEDs for a blackface fender amp.

It has like 5 components in it and yet it still pops?!?!  But, only one switch pops and only when the other one is already on.  They share a common groundon the jack and there is no chassis ground.  One of the functions (tremolo) is on when the contacts are connected and one of them (reverb) is on when the contacts are unconnected.

I have two dpdts one side on each for leds on/off and one side for trem/verb on off.  I don't think it has much to do with the voltage part of the circuit (leds etc.) because the pop still happens when the footswitch is unplugged (the 9v is ONLY for the LEDS)...

Any thoughts,

Love,

Breather-Resistor

P.S. I don't know if this would matter but the cable used from the amp to the pedal is shielded and about 20 feet long.

yes- use the search!!  It's to your advantage- most of the time you get an instant answer instead of having to wait for people to reply.

I really appreciate the input and I know that it can be anoyying to see the same ole posts about re-ocurring problems.

However, with all due respect, really, I posted this after searching and I think it is somewhat a different issue than most pops.

I.E. I don't have any coupling capacitors, or for that matter any of the other components that appear as a likely cause for the popping.  This is no doubt something that is probably more simple than the cause of most pops but its puzzling to me never the less and its something that I haven't been able to solve digging through the material about what usually causes pops like in the previous post that you suggested.

Let me know if I need to be more specific about any part of the circuit as a whole, and of course thanks for the help.

Do you have a schematic of the circuit you are using?

It could also just be a crappy switch...

Very possible.

Thanks for the ideas guys, I have eliminated several of the possibilities at hand.

-It is not leds popping because the switch pops when the 9v is disconnected from leds.  (The 9v is ONLY for the LEDs)  Therefore the switches pop even if the LEDS don't come on.

-It isn't a bad switch because if I reverse the functions of the switch (make what was the trem switch be the reverb switch and visa versa) then the other switch pops.

Sadly I don't have a good way to post a schematic right now.  But think of it as simply as this.

One stereo 1/4 inch jack. Sleeve is ground. Ring is reverb (the offending function by the way). Tip is tremolo.

Wires go directly to one side of two respective dpdt's.

Reverb is ON when disconnected from ground.
Tremolo is ON when connected to ground.

For the description above I left the Led part out of it because the switch still pops if I literally take that part out of it.

One thing I noticed about the original footswitch is that the spdt are grounded like a motherf*cker to the chassis.  I haven't done that and frankly I couldn't get a ground to stick to my enclosure.  But when I grounded the switches externally it didn't seem to make a difference at all.

I really appreciate your help,

P.S. I tried the switch on another identical amp and it popped on that amp too.
