Does anybody know how to make a tube overdrive? One that sounds REALLY good?
Built: LPB1, A/B Box

I also wanna build one. I've seen Real Mctube in Tonepad and Tube driver (chandler) in GGG.

I guess I'll choose Real Mctube.

IMO,
This right here is one of THE Coolest applications of a tube in a Stomper!

Look for the ShakaTube.  8)

Look about...find a schematic...copy the preamp..there you go.Whatever you do dont start using starved tube designs..if you want low voltage go with Transistors.I think your best bet would be the Mctube but lower the cathode resistors

I've heard you can use other 12 series tubes, say a 12AY7 or 12AU7, in a tube driver to make it less of a distortion, and more of an overdrive (ie less gain).

12AY7 or 12AU7
  12ax7...very common tube,
12ay7, alot like an ax, *lower gain, pin for pin compatible/direct swap tubes.
  So .. yes.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

the fb-2 alembic tube bass preamp sounds great for gtr.
