I've recently been looking into both pedals since they both seem to have a bit of distortion.  It's not real bad but it's there in both pedals.  Comparing them to the Pulsar and Flatline which are super clean the Kay and 280 are only usable with a distortion pedal with them.  Has anyone else noticed this and can they be cleaned up?  If so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I built the 280a from GGG.  Did the second version with the NSL-32.  I did find that at the upper ranges of the sustain knob it is anything but clean...

I'd be interested to see if these pedals can be cleaned up as well.

Hey krankguitarist,
Yes I think the Flatline works better but is more transparent.

It's funny to me.
The 280 circuit to me seems to over react when the compression is anywhere past half.
I have had others e-mail and PM me about this problem and come to find out, the factory units do this too.
One of my "when-I-get-around-2-it" projects is going to be to try and cure the nagging ailment of the 280a.

OK well I don't feel so bad about it if that's the case Mark.  I always wanted to hear a factory version of the 280 but I don't know anyone who's got one.  I took a whole day trying some things but to no avail.  I know if anyone can fix this annoying noise you can.  I was going to breadboard it and screw around with it myself but no time at the moment.
