I have an MG15DFX and I want to mod the distortion channel so it is smoother and, how should I put it, less like a hive of angry Bees stuck inside. The dist. is not part of the DSP and I just want it to sound halfway decent. I tried the search button and Google, but nothing very usefull came up. If there are any mods or sites with some info please point them out. Thanks!

The Wiki is a great source for basic and more advanced information. Always worth a look before asking.

The MG is ace for metal/punk etc... I have an MG100DFX combo, and I really like the tones you can get with it...

What kind of sound are you looking for?

Anything better than what it is. I any a Classic Rock/ Blues/ Prog enthusiest and I want low gain blues to mid/low-high gain. I have a tube amp and it is awesome (Peavey Classic 30). so this is just a screw around type of amp.

u have an schematic of the MG? or a pic of the PCB? if so, post 'em so we can help you (or do our best)

How do you post pictures? I have a picture ready, but I don't know how to show it.

Get an account on something like Photobucket (free), put your pic there...copy the URL to the picture (they give it to you below your upload), click the "insert image" button here when you write a message.  Paste the URL there between the 2 sets of brackets that come up saying (img)(img) and your pic will come up when you post the message.  Try it in the test section first.   Easier to do than what I just wrote, LOL

Alright Heres the innards!
The Black Box on the left is the input jack. The LED's on the right i believe are the clipping diodes. To the extreme right are the DSP chips. I have more pics if you want them.

hell yeah! put some more (watchin' this is like watchin' porn), specially the other side (the tracks). one question, the FDD button is part of the DSP or it's something different?

btw, if you post the track-side (i dont know if that how you call 'em) we can try to trace an schematic. 4558 is a dual op-amp, the clean-volume is 5k, and maybe the the gain-knob (which i think is 1M) is located on the feedback loop, so u can change the resistor to ground. the clippin is done by the led, so u can change 'em, or put a socket, or whatever.

if u post some more clean and closer pics, i'll do an schematic for you (thank god for de OCD!) but i need more pics and clear ones, so i can look at the values of the caps, resistors and pots (i think the diodes are 1n4148 - Si)

These Should Be Helpful.

  Use a:
Clip>wire>100k pot>Cap>probe [or another teeny clip]
Something like ~.1uf, [bigger values cut more bass, vice versa].
Clip that to a ground like if case is grounded.
try the above adjustable LP filter on the signal path, anywhere inside the BP switching [unless you want the LP to cut highs out of the bypass signal too].
For tryouts though, use the input jack tip and output jack tip, adjust the filter to taste.
Touching "Only one spot/node at a time with a probe connected to your thumb, if you hear a b'zzz, that's probably signal path, or if it's a dual opamp, any connection except pins 4 and 8 have signal path.
Careful not to touch V+ and something else.
Whatever you find you like could be switched in or hardwired, the pot could be measured as set, then replaced with a fixed resistor of ~same R value.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Could you clarify the above post? It's confusing me a little bit.
