I smashed an old tape deck which was broken today and found some small metalcan transisors, which i believe are Germanium, they where made bij mushibishi and have the following nummers  B495 and VB14, I searched the net to no aveal.
Can someone tell me what i can do with these transisors.

by the way all the PCB's are laden with silicon transistors numbered A628 and C458
what can i do with these?

Thank you

B495 are most likely 2sB495, which are indeed Ge transistors with a specified hfe of 110...Might be a lot of variation, but test them for gain and leakage and you might have some to put in a fuzz. The vb14 I'm less sure of, but the 2sb14 is a Ge transistor specified to have a minimum gain of 50...Test it out and see if it's in a usable range.

If it isn't broken, take it apart and fix it!

the 2sB495 sound quite good for use in a fuzz face, i quess i will have to test them, but there are two which come from the "power-amp" of the deck so they might be close to each other allready in terms of performance, or am i wrong here
