Thanks to Hiwatt and Foxfire and others for all the help !
I viewed schemata and diagrams and texts for the PH90, found a red 1m in there, traced from the 3m9...still don't know what the open pads are for..
But did find the hidden trace connecting the around where the 1m was, the depth pot was connected the whole day of troubleshooting...
I shouldda asked if there is an exact cross reference schematic for my board, kinda 'swhat-ed? when it showed without one, no diagrams or texts...I went and figured it out anyway.
  Then i turned 180 a 741...biased right up after re-orienting.
Nice thick phase, depth pot is cool to have on it.
I think part of what makes me think it sounds different is the 741's instead of dual OA's [IIRC Tl072/082's], sounds very good, probably grungier!
Now to R28, and more exactly finding it...
tired so I'm taking a break and typing about it instead of focusing bleary eyes on that dern board more today...figure I'll set the bypass and LED switch up, mount the board and enjoy it for a while...see if anything turns up about the open pads and the R28 location.
Nice to have this circuit working again. [the cruddy solid core wired one I built whiles back went intractably intermittent], the board had to be replaced. This one doesn't seem to tick even at fastest setting.
   A1 quality, small board.

Hiwatt25

I just looked at the fairchild data sheet,

Flat side facing you, from left to right GSD.

Cheers.

  Thanks Hiwatt !
  They were in right...lol.
R28's location is the third priority now, switch and mounting I think is all that's left to do, it's sitting in the box working on top of inulation sheet.
