got some great sounds when i revisited this little circuit. subbed standard input/output caps for the electros, socketed both transistors (rigged as an artificial dsrlington pair as remomended by tim) and put a trimpot in place of the power resistor.

also crammed in a 3-way switch to select different diodes to taste. bumped the gain pot up to 25k as well. in addition, i found that simply eliminating the electro cap on the gain section turns this circuit into a very nice booster, very transparent and very clean sounding.

holy crap i actually might put this one in a hammond box for keeps.
