are there any diy pedal projects that produce a swell similar to the slow gear except longer?

Processaurus

Good question, yes, the slow gear is too short.  I was hoping to modify a boss NS-2 noise gate at some point to have a really slow attack, I believe most of the parts are already there (envelope detector, triggered envelope generator, VCA).

I hate to say it but the swell on the big green line 6 delay is better at triggering and having a good range of swell times than anything else I've tried.

What would be really fun is if a swell pedal had a longer swell for the louder you played.

hmm... what about sustain? i think my guitar can sustain for a super long swell...

oh yeah, volume pedal...
Look at it this way- everyone rags on air guitar here because everyone can play guitar.  If we were on a lawn mower forum, air guitar would be okay and they would ridicule air mowing.

The PAIA Gator would seem to be the king of swell effects, but they've stopped selling the kit. Anyone have a schematic?

that's a really cool idea! i don't think it would be that hard either.
Bought: zvex woolly mammoth, octane 3, moogerfooger ringmod, frostwave resonator, boss sd1, ds1, dd6
Built: big muff, green ringer, tremulus lune, the crank
Planned: harmonic percolator, pt80, shin ei.

I was thinking that if you took an MXR noise gate and put an optocoupler in place of the attack pot and increased the threshold.  Then maybe get the release to happen faster.  Just guessing here but I always wanted to try something like that.

The Slow Gear clone project at  http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=110&Itemid=26

claims to have changes that make the attack longer.  See the 'SGO notes text' file.
