I finally got my fat boostered to work, but i have a few questions for those of you out there who have built one. I noticed that there doesn't really seems to be any volume unless the volume pot is turned past 12 o clock. Have any of you ever had this problem? Also, have you made any mods to the fat boostered you would recommend? How can i filter out some of the low end for less bass response? I used the schematic from this website:

You should probably go to www.generalguitargadgets.com for the schematic since a) it is the same one, and b) you are more likely to see updates, corrections, and mods there (not to mention a layout).

C9 in that schematic sets the basic low-end rolloff, and the content that is allowed to pass via C8 and R9 adjust how much additional abss content passes. Consequently, you can consider dropping C9 down to .027, .022, 0r even as low as .01uf, depending on how much bass you'd like to lose.  You might also profit from increasing R9 to a 50k or even 100k pot so as to keep a tighter rein on bass content passing via C8 (higher resistance will pose a barrier to bass), though you may want to tinker with resistors in parallel to nail your preferred taper; see "Secret life of pots" at www.geofex.com).

Not immediately clear why your volume pot is behaving the way you describe.  Could be an internal pot malfunction like dirt, or whatnot.  Consider prying the tabs up, lifting the back off and cleaning it with a Q-tip.

I know you're all probably tired of hearing about this fat boostered, but i need help again. now i've got it in the box and there is signal, but it is very low. So low that at first i thought there was none at all but when you turn up the amp and the guitar volume you can hear it, but it's still lower than the bypassed volume. I tried the audio probe and i noticed the volume drop occurs around the first tranny, between the pin connected to the input and the middle pin.

make sure that nothing is shorting out now that it is in the enclosure. if you haven't changed/soldered anything since you got it to work i would think that it must be shorting on the case?

well when i got it to work it was on a breadboard, and i moved it to perf to put it in the box. as of now i'm testing it with the back off so i can get to the circuit so there's no possibility of anything circuit wise shorting on the case except for maybe a pot or something.

there is a voltage chart over at GGG that might help you.

could i get a link please?

sorry I was thinking of bsiabII instead of FB. :icon_redface:
