Changing the switching on the Hughes and Kettner Replex

I am busy rack mounting the hughes and kettner replex and I want to change the switching system. I foudn when i have used this and put it in its "bypass" it took a lot of my tone. Does this use the same switching systems boss pedals?
If I rack mount it I thought maybe I could have the switches on a foot pedal or maybe have a easier way to switch the different controls on. I thought toggle switches but i think the switches there are momentary.

Can anyone help me design something to make this a good rack unit?
