new LED goes dim in 5 seconds

I installed a new 5000mcd  UV LED in my Ibanez CS-9, and when it is switched on it goes dim in less than 5 seconds, everytime...
any suggestions would be helpful..

  I believe you're describing 'it lights only temporarily' every time I go from bypass to on mode.
  That's wierd, the pedal still work ?
  My guess'd be it's only charging the PS bypass cap for a split second while the button is being pushed, as opposed to connecting the LED circuit to the PS.
  The other'd be maybe somehow that LED draws more current than the PS can supply...for 'some reason..but that does'n't really make sense yet.

yeah, its wierd it is bright and then it slowly fades to nothing... the longer it is switched off the brighter the LED is when it is switched on again..

  I'd put a DMM across the LED circuit, see what kinda voltages are going across it [on/off].
