Micro Synth Filter LFO?

What would it take to add an LFO to modulate the filter cutoff in an Electro-Harmonix Micro Synthesizer?  Would it basically entail "replacing" the stop frequency slider with an LFO oscillating resistance between 0 and 100K?  Anybody have any thoughts on starting points for this?  I would like it to have sine and square waveforms and rate and amount controls.
