AMZ clipping question

Can the positions of the clippers be changed so that the RC network comes BEFORE the clipper??  So the sig flow would be;

opamps > RC networks > clipping > blend > out

It would seem better to clip the sig after its been filtered rather than filter the clipped signal...

Actually, the opposite.  The clipping will add harmonic content which the RC lowpass filter will be unable to trim/tame if the filter is placed before the diodes.  Besides, you want as hefty a signal as you can get to hit the diodes so that you get the most clipping, and pre-clip filtering may reduce the overall signal level.  Finally, if that weren't enough, any highpass/lowpass arrangement will mean that the degree of clipping from each section will depend on what notes you are playing.  With the filters afterwards, it  means that degree of clipping is independent of note choice, and the mix control pans between two tones that each have predictable degrees of clipping.
