i'm wondering if there's a way to use true bypass, yet also break the connection from V+ to the circuit, all on a dpdt....?

I don't think it will work even with a 3pdt, because whenever you turn on the fx there will be a nasty pop caused by the switching of the fx and the power all at the same time.

Just out of curiosity why would you want to do this? I am just wondering if there is a way to acheive what you want if you explain your problem or need

The answer is yes - the Millenium 2 bypass, but with an extension.

The Millenium detects when the control line is connected to ground through a big resistance. This is normally the output of the effect. In the Millenium 2, the thing turned on is an LED, but it could also be a power line to the effect. in addition to an LED.

Imagine a PNP transistor, emitter to +9V, collector to the 9V pad on the effect board. With the base open, the PNP does not conduct and the effect is not powered. If you let your Millenium 2 pull down on a 10K to the base of the PNP as well as the LED, when the LED is turned on the PNP is also turned on, and this lets 9V current into the effect. Pretty simple.

However - with most effects, it would pop like crazy, so I'm with Papa_lazerous; why do you want to do this and what is it you're really trying to do?

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

yeah i was thinking it would pop like pringles...

i'm trying to add an LFO indicator LED to a rebote 2.5 with modulation (but i guess it would apply to any effect using an extra LFO w/ indicator LED) and want the LFO indicator to turn off when the pedal is turned off.  i realized while writing, though, that i could simply break the power or ground from the LED instead of the whole circuit.   :icon_rolleyes:  i can do this with a millenium bypass switching the LFO indicator LED instead of the regular LED, right?

Yes I've done this with the millenium 2 bypass, I just hooked the line that normally goes to 9 volts to the output of the LFO.
