Anybody seen a layout for a decibel meter?

Try Google, there are a bunch out there that are designed for stereo hi-fi applications.  Lots of transistors, but they work!

I tried googling "diy decibel meter", "db meter", "build your own db meter", etc. I didn't have any luck. Any suggestions?

I found this, not exactly a meter, but a step in the right direction. Could a 3 digit display be used instead of the led?
