all i hear is some sweet playing and a phaser pedal.

i dont know if its a mutron, but i think the boss phase shifter can get you pretty darn close.
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

CGDARK

It is a phaser, but what brand or model is difficult to identify. ???

CG ;)

Barcode80

i think you could get fairly close with even a phase 90

CGDARK

Maybe it is footcontrolled, because it varies the speed at the end. :icon_idea:

Maybe my phaser is crap. I can't get it to do that bubbly thing. The depth and rate keep changing. I was assuming it was done in real time. But maybe it was done after.

Roland Phase 5 has envelope controlled speed.  Probably some Line 6 stuff can do it too.

I can't hear the file here at work, but if it's Green Earrings from the Steely Dan album Royal Scam, then it's a Mutron Bi-Phase.  Kinda makes you want one, doesn't it?

Rodgre

I agree that it's got to be the Mutron Bi-Phase. The Mutrons have that distinctive clean and deep phasing sound, as opposed to the Phase 90, which is more wooshy and kinda distorted (in a cool way).

The Line 6 Modulation Modeler does a model sonically based on the Bi-Phase. It can be pedal-controlled too.

Shit...Doesn't it feel good when you finally know something  :D Thanks Mark. I've wondered about that sound for years. I really love that song and the guitar on it. I think that's Elliot Randall playing the end solo? I know mutron had a fancy pedal you could plug in to that phaser. Do you think it was done in real time as he was playing it? And yes I really want one!
