No input after Big Muff Mod

I just finished recasing and modding my big muff.  When I plugged it in and step on it the LED lights up and I can hear the distortion, but when I try to play something nothing comes out.  If I adjust the knobs I can hear changes it the tone of the amp, so I'm not sure what I'm missing.  Here's the list of stuff I did to the circuit: changed R1 & R2 to 33k from 1.8k & 39k respectively, changed the volume pot to an audio pot from the original linear, and did the feedback mod and put it on a SPDT switch, changed the jacks to switchcraft and switched to the boss style power jack.  Most of the mods were from this site: http://www.student.ru.nl/r.kerkhof/Taas/Mods/Big%20Muff.htm  Photos of the job can be found here: http://picasaweb.google.com/ecm1984/BigMuff  The black wire running from the input jack to the board was my attempted solution for the problem; I thought the jack might have needed to be grounded.  Any enlightenment is appreciated.

Umm... actually silicium is silicon in Latin.  It's still (rarely) used.
