2n501 germaniums??

anyone ever used these before?  i found some on ebay for really cheap so i thought id give them a try, cant find much info on them

  Build a GE transistor tester [See GEO].
Once you find the gain minus leakage numbers you can know what's up better.
Barring that, stick them in the DMM to find the pinout [look for a 'normal ballpark' type gain reading], forget about the leakage and stick 'em in a FF..compare tone/noise/gain/output etc.
