Mini booster issues

I've completed a AMZ mini booster build, and it sounds great! Highly recommended.

Still, there's 2 things that need attention. First, there's pop sounds when i switch the effect on or off. I know this have been talked about before, but i couldn't find a topic or anything about it..

Second, when it's on 60%-100%, there's some random crackling noises. What could that be? I do have a theory though. Look at this schematic. http://www.muzique.com/amz/mini.htm . This is the newest i think, and here's C6 added, a 10uF cap. On each side of that, something points to "A" and "B", which i think is a gain control. Any thoughts on that? Seems like it's sort of "open", because i haven't connected anything to "A" or "B".

Thanks in advance

For the 'pop' noise try putting a pull down resitore input side before the cap, something like 2.2M or greater, for the crackling noise it could simply be the pot with some dust in.
The cap across source resitor increases gain and let tailoring the tone a bit rolling off some basses if you wanted to (rolloff frquency = 1 / (2*PI*R*C) I think). You can eliminate the cap  if you want a broader frequncy range.

Thanks, though i think one thing was misunderstood. The crackling-like noises appear even when not turning the pot. It happens approximately above 60-70%.

Any boost when turned up will expose any AC line noise or defficient cords etc.

I get my sound using an amp emulator followed by a cranked up mosfet boost. Sometimes I'll have to move some things around to lessen the noise. There's always a lot of hiss too. Luckily my hearing problems filter a lot of the hiss out.  :icon_lol:
