Seperate Input buffer and volume booster circuits with TL072?

I'm trying to use a TL072 to add an unity gain buffer at the input and a volume booster at the output of an effect circuit. I figured out the input buffer circuit using the first half, but am not having luck making a "Stratoblaster" type volume boost circuit from the second half of the opamp.
   Is this even possible? Thanks to Jack Orman for explaining buffer circuits on his site, it got me halfway there!!
