Hey Guys

I am looking for a delay to build. I want something thats pretty warm and can start around 300ms, and get as much as 500ms.
I would want a normal delay control, but then toggle to switch to a 6 way for preset delay settings..

What would any of you recommend?

Thanks a bunch!

Look at the PT80 from www.generalguitargadgets.com.
And insert a rotatry switch for the differant preset's you want. There's a datasheet of the PT2399 echo chip on the net that says what value's to use for the differant milliseconds. But this goes up to 340ms i believe but when you extand it to 50K it goes up to 680ms.

i did that with my Rebot 2.5 from Tonepad.com... it my only delay now...

Yeah

I did something similar with my Rebote. Put a switchable 50k resistor in series with the delay pot. That and a instant self oscillation switch or slam mod of course. I've been  eyeballing the General Guitar Gadgets AD-3208 though lately...

What sounds better the ad-2308 or Pt80? I am looking for really warm analog delay... think Floyd.
So replace delay time with a 50k pot. I could also use a toggle to go to a rotary switch. And each click would go to a samll trim pot set to my desired delay?

When  using the bigger value pot, do I loose the lesser ms of delay?

thanks

Yo

I haven't built the AD-3208. The AD is analog, the pt-80 and Rebote aren't so if you're going for analog....
The Rebote calls for a 50k pot for the delay time. you can increase the delay time by using a 100k pot. I used a 50k pot so I can work in the smaller delay ranges then I switch in the 50k series resistor so the pot works in the 50K-100K range if I want. I haven't taken a close look at the AD-3208 so I don't know if those pot vaules etc would apply to it
using a rotary hooked up to a bunch of trimpots sort of sounds like overkill. Even if you're trying to set up specific BPM's for use with drum machines etc there's possibilities for analog drift I would imagine that would negate the whole usefullness of it. I'd just stick with a pot.

So using a 50k pot and using a 50k resistor gives you the shorter delay and longer delay too?

MetalGuy

According to the AD3208 article at GGG you can get 500ms using two 3205s. That's what I did  - I used two Cool Audio V3205 chips /+V3102/. It worked worked right away but I haven't experimented too much with it yet.

and what would be the shortest delay then?
