I listened to You Are from Pearl Jam today
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnUTeZ174kY

This sounds like some kind of tremolo. Since I have been bitten by the DIY virus I want to build one.
Can somebody tell me which one I should build? I know how to find the schematics here, but I don't know which one would get me closest to this sound.

Thanks in advance

You squeezed it into a 1590A - you insane fool!  :icon_mrgreen:

Well this... this is just silly... this can't fit in a 1590B... can it? And you're not even using SMD you mad man!

The EA Tremolo (found at tonepad.com) is one of the most simple tremolos.  Unfortunately it doesn't have the depth that you would want for "You Are".  I have modified it as follows:

This makes for a pretty decent trem.  You can use 2N5457, 2N5458, or J201's for any of the transistors.

More complicated, yet a more adjustable tremolo that many people like is the Tremulus Lune:

tr.v. trans·mog·ri·fied, trans·mog·ri·fy·ing, trans·mog·ri·fies To change into a different shape or form, especially one that is fantastic or bizarre.

Ok, so I decided on the tremulus lune. The problem is that I can't find a pcb for it. I found like 5 different schematics too.

Can someone provide me a link with pcb layout, and a parts list, and a schematic? basically what I need for this pedal

I already have those. I'll take a closer look at them.
How many knobs are there actually on this @#$%er? is there also a position knob, for which I would need a rotary switch?

I'm sorry but my English sucks!

Freaking with real fuzz boxes...

apparently you need an LDR for this built. how can you get light inside the stompbox? The led is only visible on the outside, I don't get this part. woulnd't it be easier to use 2 resistors in stead of an LDR.
I can't find any either. none of the european online stores have them

As a sub for Vactrol and the Clairex parts, you can use a LDR, LED combo.  This is made very easily by putting a LDR and LED in heat shrink tubing.  there are examples all over here of this technique.  LDR's can be had from Small Bear among other places.  See this schematic...
