Would it be possible to adapt the ROG Professor Tweed to become a mini amp with a speaker ala Ruby or Little Gem ?

jakenold

What about just sticking it infront of a Ruby?  ;D

 :icon_lol: Sure  :icon_lol:
But I'd like to not put it in front of anything but rather let it sing through a speaker all it's own y'know.  :icon_mrgreen:
Could that be done somehow ?

Build a Ruby into the circuit?

I suppose you could redesign the third stage as a true power amp, maybe using a small power mosfet single-ended or a two transistor push-pull. However, I wouldn't begin to know how to do such a thing, nor do I know what the benefit would be.

This panda would turn the output into a JFET Deacy amp. The transformers will add a crucial aspect to the sound and definitely add even more tube-amp panda vibe.

Look at it this way- everyone rags on air guitar here because everyone can play guitar.  If we were on a lawn mower forum, air guitar would be okay and they would ridicule air mowing.

Maybe Vanessa is a lovely Panda-Girl.

I say we leave them to their Panda-lovin' - there aren't enough Pandas left.

Thanks soulsonic. Now we just need to know what the audio transformers are.
Any suggestions? Or has someone the rest of that mullard book?
"Why can't I do it like that?"

soulsonic

Those cheap junk little "42TM0xx" ones that Mouser sells and everyone uses in a variety of different stompbox panda projects are actually intended for this sort of circuit. Just find the right impedances to work with whatever transistors you choose to use.

I'm going to scan a schematic I found in my electronic circuit compendium of early 70ties; It's very alike.
I wonder how good these things actually sound. Not tube, ok, but still output "panda" transformers.
