Has anyone used these boards?

i was browsing e bay and i came across this "store" they have boards that seem to be hybrids of veroboards breadboards and good ol perfboards. theres quite a variety but im just wondering if anyone has ever used them or can recommend them.

So-called "pad-per-hole" boards can be extremely useful, although a) they can vary in quality and b) the dimensions and pad/hole-arrangement or configuration for any specific board may vary in terms of how compatible it is with your chassis/circuit. I can recommend the ones at Smallbear since they are made to Steve's specs, I've used them, and they are certainly much higher quality than Radio Shack's. I picked up some nice inexpensive ones in Toronto last week that also struck me as decent value for the money and ideal for 1590B-sized projects (double-sided and tinned, too). The ones you link to may be just as good. They certainly look like decent PCB stock.

Interesting stuff. For a San Jose, CA seller, they sure have a real hongkongsuperseller vibe.

I would like to try the boards with all the pads connected to one another by hairlines. Sort of a mondo vero exercise.

wowo those look pretty amazing! i do all my builds on perf, so this would really cut out some of the annoying connections involved...
i'm going to try them out and give a little report.

if they work as good as i hope it would almost be like cheating.

i cant decide if i want to try the one with hairlines or the ones chunked in threes, hopefully ill have a report for everyone and if they are really good we can bug small bear about it so we can do some one stop shopping and keep it in the family.

I ordered some of the two-layer stuff and just used it in a project:

It seems like good stuff. The insides of the holes are metal plated, so they really suck up the solder. The plating is supposed to make the pads more durable too, and in fact, I didn't have any problems with lifting the pads.

The material is not as dense as the Smallbear stuff. But it is blue. Which is cool.

The hairline stuff sounds interesting. I may try that next.

wow its perfect. they have some cute little 1" 9x9 square perf boards, i ordered a couple to try out. i jsut build super simple circuits, these will be perfect for little boosters and such!

though I will admit I put my PCB's in order of rank, the General is solder maksed and silkscreened with RED lettering !

Paradoxically, what they call "wireless" construction, is actually pad per hole with wires joining the adjacent holes. So it is really like stripboard with the strips running both ways on the same side!
I had some proto board made to a similar pattern myself once, the idea was to have pad per hole, with a stripboard pattern but using very thin traces so it was easier to cut through them. Worked for me.

yes i tried one of the boards yesterday and didnt realize untiol i recieved them that its not normal padperhole kind. every 3 holes is connected. so its like a mix between perf and vero. it made me have to rethink a new layout, but after that it worked perfect. takes up less space than vero but saves some time from perf (after you think of a layout) because you dont have to connect anything on the bottom of the circuit (if you lay it out right). so not for everybody, but i love the 1" square sizw for the small circuits i like to do.

What is with the coper all over the board? That is kinda close to the holes. What is the benefit of having the copper so close to each hole?

it's explained in the description, the top is divided into four sections that can act as ground planes or power planes.
