Grounding on an amp footswitch & adding momentary switching

Hey all.  Thanks for the info on building this, in conjunction with my chorus pedal almost maxed I can pull of a nice hammond sound   Super useful...

I noticed that when and only when I press down on the momentary switch, the amp has a mild pop, and not when I release my foot.  Would the "pulldown resistor" fix fix this?  There's no power going to it (other than whatever the amp may be feeding it).
