Anyone mod a Roland GK-1 for six outputs?

I use a Roland G-505/GR-300 and I have an uncommitted GK-1 as well and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with taking the raw connector on a GK-1 to tap out the six individual pickup outputs. It can't be all that hard, can it?

I ask out of curiosity. It might be a fun weekend experiment to run six strings through six amps and feel like a king.

Well, you can find out the info here: http://www.joness.com/gr300/gk1_kit.htm and the GK-1 schematic here: http://www.joness.com/gr300/pics/SCHEM_GK-1.jpg

The GK-1 provides low-level/low-impedance outputs from the pickup itself, so the electronics assembly has to goose the pickup output a lot.  The schematic shows which pins to tap the signal from.

I have a GK-1 but unfortunately, in one of his very infrequent bouts of wire-chewing, our pet rabbit chewed his way through the connector cable so now I have to do a 24-conductor cable splice before I can use the GK-1 and all that other MIDI gear again. >:(

Lucky duck!  As soon as I got wise the prices shot through the roof!

You definitely can get your outputs from the GK pickup.  It'll probably be worth your while to use a different cable, and keep your 24 pin cable to possibly help repair your other GR cable(s) in the future, you seen them going on ebay for $275?!!!

You could put a power supply in it's breakout box, and use a printer cable or something to connect stuff, so you could use the onboard preamps, depending on how much time you feel like putting into it.  I bet they would work fine on +/- 9v, if you used pedal power and a robust charge pump IC (not the max 1044, 10mA max on that one) for the (-) supply.
