I use the Weller WES51 and it's on sale too http://www.hmcelectronics.com/cgi-bin/scripts/query.cgi?query=wes51

I know Dragonfly has also said that he uses the WES51. Great soldering station for the price.

I use the same one Aron mentioned. I love it -- but be sure to get some fine tips from Small Bear.

I use the WES 51 too and its a bit nicer than the 100 for the extra cash. Its also soothing blue rather than neon orange. ;)

Nabbed the TENMA, twin sister of the Weller WLC110 for $10 on sale from MCM.

Looks exactly the same cept for color and brand name, surely they both ordered them from the same factory in Asia  :icon_wink:

Too bad it's sold out
..and remember guys, ALWAYS USE LEAD FREE SOLDER!

Papa_lazerous

I will have a look online and see if I can find a good deal, I am in the UK so your baragins arent available to me.  And Electric_Death I have a nice big stash of Lead solder and intend to use it till I cant get any more got years and years worht left still.  Lead free just isnt the same, a small amount of lead solder is the least of my worries.  Too much fuss if you ask me  ;)

Check on Ebay man, I found the Tenma I own for 30 bucks, shipping included. Sure it cost more than what I spent but still a good price.
As far as lead free solder goes, the stuff I got recently works just as well, just takes a little bit more heat and even when I use that stuff, I like to open a window, turn on a fan and about half the time, wear a respirator ;D

As far as leaded solder goes, I'd prefer to not have children with birth defects when I have them let alone find out the family jewels aren't worth anything anymore. :icon_neutral:

Bad but even worse if you buy the Weller WLC110 or Tenma clone.
I've had mine for not even a month and the dirty f&(*er is already falling apart!
There's a collar at the end that inserts into the bulk of the shaft connected to the handle and the other day the bastard just fell right out!!
It's not really crimped in place like it should be so I of course took the initiative to crimp it as well as I possibly could with my crimper.
Should do the trick but come on, there are name brand tools, the design could be a lot better and simpler for that matter.
I've had 3 dollar irons that may be crap for circuit work but they've lasted nearly a decade before crapping out.
