Attenuator Tone Control?

I have bought an 8Ohm L-Pad and although it works at low volumes it cuts too much treble sound, is there any way I can add a Tone control to it. (My amps 50watt) Can I just use a simple tone control type circuit as used on a guitar? Treble bleed cap type affair?
