But they do and I ordered a bunch. However, all but  a few values were from what appears to be a new-production menu. The others were NOS. Who still makes carbon comps?

Actually, a number of companies do. When they found out they could make 10x the price for an older, noisier product with wider variations, they decided to make a few.

The question is - why do you want them? Carbon comps have sound benefits under only one extreme set of conditions which is not found in stompboxes. But they make more noise all the time.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Xicon makes current production.

Mouser has them - if you're gonna use them get them from here or another supplier. I wouldn't recommend old stock.

Im not interested in using them regularly, just in a few muffs since I want to try building some as close to the originals as possible a la skreddy. I know all about their properties and places that theyre intended to work yada yada yada but I want to try them in this one pedal where noise isn't going to be a huge issue. In the whole batch, I only needed 2 total resistors that weren't in the new production list. When I saw them on mouser, it looked like they didn't have many values and they were all non-stocked.
