anyone ever winding a wah inductor...?

Does anyone has some experiences on winding their own inductor for wah pedal?
I have tried the output transformer solution as R.G recommend, and somehow it didn't work....

Yes, I have wound one of the halo inductors that Small Bear sells:

It sounds good to me.  There used to be instructions on how to do it on the net, but I can't find them anymore.
