gah! fixed one problem, then i'm faced with another one!
When its normal bypass, the guitar works fine but when i step on the footswitch, I'm left with a nice looking mute pedal. Whats wrong? all of my diodes are correct, everythings in the right way, my IC is in. I substituted 0.068 for a 0.1 green cap, and used a red coloured cap instead of a green cap.
I declare BANKCRUPTCY!

okay now it was my battery that was screwed, but now my IC is freakin hot and theres no sound coming out still!

Most of the times when an IC, and especially an op-amp, gets hot, it's a matter of wrong orientation.

i checked the schematic and i placed it the right way? doubt the tonepad layout is wrong? faulty IC? I'll check. There is sound when its on bypass mode.

If the battery went in the wrong way, the IC and (hopefully not) other parts could have been damaged!! The capacitor change you made should have no effect at all.

The best way to get help is to check the voltages at the IC pins, and list them here.  Read the Debugging thread.  Make an audio probe to see where the signal stops, and your trouble is going to be related to that section, or the section that drives it.
Keep trying, you'll get it   ;o)

could it be some of the caps i've used? instead of 0.068 i used a 0.1 and i used a 0.47 red cap instead of a green cap. GRR! this is so frustrating! took me 8 hours staight to make. I'll try probing it 2morow coz its like almost 1am in australia

okay i've solved the problem with the overheating IC battery was in the wrong position. So that means i could've damaged something right? how do i test that?

At this stage now would be a good time to audio probe the circuit.  You solved some of the more major issues so audio probing would be the next step.  Keep in mind this is where if a cap was bad or there was a bad solder problem you'll find it.

i seriously have no idea how to do this

So i put the ground of the cable to a ground on the fx, the other onto a capacitor then plug it into an amp then plug my stereo into the circuit?

could it be the values of my resistors? coz i used 1% do i need to replace all of them with 5%?

AT least share the pins voltage....at least we might see some trace of possible problem.....

IC 1 TL072
pin 1 - 4.16
2 - 7.96
3 - 1.5
4 - 8.35
5 -8.33
6 - 4.15
7 - 4.15
8 - 4.15

dxm1

TL072?

pin 4 = 8.35 ?
pin 8 = 4.15 ?

We need to be talking the same language here. Try numbering the IC pins like this:

    ____
1 -|o   |- 8
    |    |
2 -|    |- 7
    |    |
3 -|    |- 6
    |    |
4 -|    |- 5
    ____

Pin 4 should be 0V. Pin 8 should be your battery voltasge...

i found my problem the IC is not getting any power. i'm checking everything thats on the same track.

I may be able to take a look for you

sasuke_kun12

can u PM me your address so i can see how much it'll cost to ship it out to the US. I'm from australia
